Peterborough Speedway is a super exciting place in Cavan, Ontario, Canada, where people race cars! It's a 1/3 mile (that's about 536 meters) oval track made of asphalt. People often call it "Canada's Toughest 1/3 Mile Oval" because the racing is so intense.
Every Saturday night from May to October, you can watch different kinds of race cars compete. These include Bone Stocks, Mini Stocks, Renegade Trucks, Legends, Super Stock, and Late Models. The track also hosts special racing series like the APC United Late Model Series and OSCAAR Modifieds. The racing season ends with a huge event called the Autumn Colours Classic.

History of Peterborough Speedway
How the Speedway Started
Peterborough Speedway first opened its doors on Sunday, May 28, 1967. Back then, it was known by a different name: Westgate Speedway. Four friends from the Peterborough area worked together to build the track. It cost them about $70,000 to create this exciting racing venue.
A New Name and Big Celebrations
In 1986, new owners took over the track and decided to give it a new name. That's when it officially became Peterborough Speedway. The track has been a popular spot for racing fans ever since. In 2017, Peterborough Speedway celebrated its 50th birthday, marking half a century of thrilling races!
Autumn Colours Classic: A Big Race Event
What is the Autumn Colours Classic?
Since 1993, Peterborough Speedway has hosted a very special event called the "Autumn Colours Classic." This race weekend happens every October during the Thanksgiving holiday. It's a huge deal for stock car racing fans!
Three Days of Racing Fun
The Autumn Colours Classic lasts for three whole days. During this time, nearly 10 different types of race cars and teams come from all over Ontario to compete. It's known as one of the most important stock car racing events in the entire province. Drivers and fans look forward to it every year!
