Kawartha Speedway is a cool place for racing located in Fraserville, Ontario, Canada. It's about 10 kilometers southwest of Peterborough. The main track is a 3/8 mile (about 600 meters) paved oval. This oval track is actually built inside a bigger track used for harness racing (where horses pull a driver in a cart).
For big races, temporary stands are set up right on the harness racing track. Kawartha Speedway has hosted some really exciting races over the years. In 2006, it held the very last race for the CASCAR Super Series. After that, the series changed its name to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in 2007. Kawartha Speedway was often the place where the championship winner was decided! Famous drivers like Scott Steckly, Jason Hathaway, and D.J. Kennington have won races here.

Kawartha Downs & Speedway isn't just for big stock car races. It's a busy spot with lots of different kinds of racing!
Karting Adventures
Since 2009, the Kawartha Durham Kart Club uses the speedway as its main track. They added more paved areas inside the main oval. This lets them create many different track layouts for karting. It's a very popular place for people who love to race go-karts.
Solo Events and Rally Cars
The Peterborough Motor Sports Club also uses the speedway for their "solo events." These are races where drivers compete against the clock, one car at a time. You can see all sorts of vehicles here, from regular cars to specially changed rally cars.
Gravity Cavity: Soap Box Derby Track
If you look closely, you might find a special track just for soap box cars! This track, called the 'Gravity Cavity,' is hidden behind the parking lot. It hosts its own championship series for kids and adults who love to build and race soap box cars down a hill using only gravity.
Summer Shoot-Out Series
To bring more race cars and fans to the tracks, Kawartha Speedway started a special series called the Summer Shoot-Out. This series had six races for "late model" cars, which are a popular type of stock car. The races were split between Kawartha Speedway and Capital City Speedway in Stittsville, Ontario.
Three races were held at Kawartha and three at Capital City Speedway. Most of these races were 100 laps long. However, one special race in July at Kawartha was 200 laps. It was called the ACT Summer Sizzler.
