Peters Lake (also known as French: lac Peters in French) is a lake located in the middle of Ontario, Canada. It is found in the area of Kearney, which is part of the Parry Sound District. This lake is an important part of the larger Lake Huron drainage basin, meaning its water eventually flows into Lake Huron.

About Peters Lake

Peters Lake is a natural body of water in central Ontario. It is known for being a peaceful spot within the Canadian landscape. The lake is part of a large system of rivers and lakes that connect across the region.

Size and Location

Peters Lake covers an area of about 53.95 hectares (133.3 acres). To give you an idea, that's roughly the size of 100 football fields! The lake sits at an elevation of 373 metres (1,224 ft) above sea level. This means it is quite high up compared to the ocean. Its exact location helps define its role in the local water system.

Water Flow and Drainage

The water from Peters Lake doesn't just stay put. It is part of a larger network called a drainage basin. This means that all the rain and snowmelt that falls into the lake, or flows into it from nearby land, eventually travels out. The water from Peters Lake flows into the Magnetawan River system. From there, it continues its journey until it reaches Georgian Bay. Georgian Bay is a large bay on Lake Huron, one of the Great Lakes. So, the water from Peters Lake eventually becomes part of Lake Huron.
