Pewamo is a small village located in Lyons Township, within Ionia County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It was started in 1857 as a stop along the Detroit, Grand Haven and Milwaukee Railway. The name "Pewamo" was suggested by J.C. Blanchard. He chose it to honor Chief Pewamo, a person he used to hunt with near the Grand River.
According to the 2020 census, about 503 people live in Pewamo. An interesting fact about Pewamo is that the 1937 movie Mr. Dodd Takes the Air starts at the Pewamo Strawberry Festival. This festival is the hometown of the main character in the film. The song "Remember Me" from this movie was even nominated for an Academy Award!
