Phelekezela Mphoko (born 11 June 1940 – died 6 December 2024) was an important person in Zimbabwe. He was a politician, a diplomat, and a businessman. He also served as a military commander. From 2014 to 2017, he was the Second Vice-President of Zimbabwe. He also represented Zimbabwe as an ambassador in different countries.
An ambassador is like a special representative for their country. They work to build good relationships with other nations. Mr. Mphoko served as Zimbabwe's ambassador to Russia, Botswana, and South Africa.

Early Life and Public Service
Phelekezela Mphoko was born in a place called Gwizane in Southern Rhodesia. This area is now part of Zimbabwe. After Zimbabwe became independent, he started working for his country.
Serving as an Ambassador
Mr. Mphoko first became an ambassador to Botswana. Later, he served as the ambassador to Russia. His last ambassador role was in Pretoria, South Africa. In this role, he helped Zimbabwe work with these countries.
Becoming Vice-President
On 10 December 2014, the President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, chose Mr. Mphoko to be a Vice-President. He shared this role with Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mr. Mphoko was sworn in as Vice-President on 12 December 2014.
As Vice-President, he helped the President lead the country. He was also given a special job to help with "National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation." This meant he worked to help people in Zimbabwe get along and heal from past difficulties. In 2015, he was given more duties to help with government policies.
Later Life and Passing
Mr. Mphoko's time as Vice-President ended in November 2017. He passed away in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on 6 December 2024. He was 84 years old. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living former Vice-President of Zimbabwe.
