Philip Nathan Ifil, born on November 18, 1986, is a former English professional football player. He played as a defender, which means he helped protect his team's goal. Philip played for several well-known clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Millwall, Southampton, Colchester United, and Dagenham & Redbridge.

Philip Ifil's Football Journey

Philip Ifil was born in Willesden, London. As a schoolboy, he went to Gladstone Park Primary School and Willesden High. He played for Springfield Football Club before joining Tottenham Hotspur when he was a teenager.

Playing for Tottenham Hotspur

Philip, who played as a full-back (a type of defender), made his first big game appearance for Tottenham Hotspur. This was against Liverpool at the start of the 2004–05 season. He played in three Premier League games in total.

His first two games were in the 2004–05 season. One was the Liverpool match, and he played the whole game in a 1–0 win against Newcastle United. He had to wait about two and a half years for his third game. This was in April 2007, during the 2006–07 season, in a 3–3 draw with Wigan Athletic.

Playing for England's Youth Teams

Philip also represented England at the youth level. He played for the England Under-20 team in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.

Loan Moves and New Clubs

On September 28, 2007, Philip joined English Championship team Southampton for a three-month loan. A loan means a player temporarily plays for another team.

On January 10, 2008, he moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Colchester United. He was transferred for a fee, which is the money one club pays to another for a player.

Scoring His First Goals

Philip had not scored a goal in his professional career until December 2009. But then, he scored two goals in two games! These goals were against Brighton on December 11, 2009, and against Southend United on Boxing Day 2009.

On September 10, 2010, Philip joined Dagenham & Redbridge on a one-year contract. He played his first game for them a day later against Bournemouth. In May 2011, Dagenham & Redbridge announced that Philip would leave the club when his contract ended.

In July 2011, Philip signed with Kettering Town after playing well during their pre-season training. In January 2013, he also had a trial with Wrexham, hoping to earn a contract there.

Later Career

As of December 2020, Philip was playing for Sun Sports Athletic in the Watford Sunday League. He started the 2021–22 season with Oxhey Jets, which is part of the Spartans South Midlands Premier Division.

Philip Ifil's Family
