Sir Philip Meadowes (born 1672, died 1757) was an important English politician and diplomat. He worked for the King and Queen, helping to manage government affairs and represent England in other countries.

Early Life and Education
Philip Meadowes was born in 1672 and grew up in Chattisham, Suffolk. His father was also named Sir Philip Meadows. Young Philip went to Trinity College, Oxford in 1689 to study. After that, he studied law at Lincoln's Inn starting in 1690.
Sir Philip's Career in Government
Sir Philip Meadowes started his career in government in 1698. He became a Member of Parliament (MP) for a place called Tregony. An MP helps make laws for the country. From 1698 to 1700, he was a commissioner of excise. This meant he helped collect taxes on certain goods.
In 1700, King William III made him the Knight Marshal of the royal household. This was an important job helping to manage the King's home. The King also made him a knight, giving him the title "Sir."
He returned to Parliament in 1702, this time representing Truro. He was elected again for Tregony in 1705.
Diplomatic Missions and Royal Connections
In 1706, Sir Philip became an envoy to Holland. An envoy is like a special messenger or representative from one country to another. In 1707, he went on a special mission to Emperor Joseph I. During this time, he was also made controller of army accounts, which meant he helped manage the army's money. In 1708, he spoke to the Emperor to support Protestants in Silesia.
Sir Philip's daughter, Mary, had a special role at the royal court. She was a maid of honour to Queen Caroline, who was the wife of King George II.
Sir Philip lived in Richmond, Surrey later in his life. He passed away in Brompton in 1757.
Sir Philip's Family and Connections
Sir Philip Meadowes married Dorothy Boscawen. Her brother was Hugh Boscawen, 1st Viscount Falmouth, an important person.
Sir Philip and Lady Meadowes had three sons and five daughters. Some of their children included:

Sir Philip's son Philip married Lady Frances Pierrepont in 1734. Lady Frances was a friend of Mary Delany, who was a close friend of King George III.
