Philip Martin Brown (born 9 July 1956) is a well-known English actor. He is famous for playing Grantly Budgen, an English teacher, in the TV show Waterloo Road. He was on the show from 2006 to 2013.
Philip also appeared in the soap opera Coronation Street in 2015 as a therapist. Before that, he was in the show in 2005 as D.I. Pinnock. In 2021, he played Marvin Bulis in the medical drama Doctors, a show where he had many different roles over the years.

Starring in Waterloo Road
From March 2006 to October 2013, Philip played Grantly Budgen in the BBC One show Waterloo Road. This show was about a school. He was the actor who stayed on the show the longest, appearing in 154 episodes.
Other TV Shows and Films
Before Waterloo Road, Philip had a big role as Eddie Vincent in Casualty. He was in 17 episodes of this show between 2002 and 2003. He also appeared in the 1984 film The Bounty, playing John Adams.
Philip has been in many other British dramas. These include The Bill, Heartbeat, Midsomer Murders, and New Tricks. He also had a small part in the 1999 film Sleepy Hollow, which starred Johnny Depp.
In 2015, he returned to Coronation Street to play a therapist for the character Steve McDonald. From 2017 to 2019, he played Mr Algernon Rowan Webb in the CBBC series The Worst Witch.
Life and Achievements
Philip Martin Brown grew up in Barrow-in-Furness. He went to Barrow-in-Furness Grammar School for Boys. He once said he was a "dreadful troublemaker" and was asked to leave the school after his fifth year.
He lives in Paddock Wood, Kent, with his wife and two children.

In 2010, Philip was nominated for the Best Actor award at the TV Choice Awards. He actually won this award three years in a row!
Supporting Young Epilepsy
Philip was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 19 years old. He is now an ambassador for a charity called Young Epilepsy. He had brain surgery that helped him become seizure-free for over 22 years.
