Pickens is a small community in Randolph County, West Virginia, in the United States. It's a special kind of place called a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's a community that the government counts for the census, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
Pickens is about 13 miles (21 km) west-southwest of Huttonsville. It is known for being the home of the Cunningham-Roberts Museum. Pickens also has its own post office with the ZIP code 26230. In 2010, the population of Pickens was 66 people.
History of Pickens
Pickens began in 1892. This was when a railroad line was built and extended to that area. The community was named after James Pickens, Jr. He was the person who originally owned the land where the town was built.
