Piero Carini (March 6, 1921 – May 30, 1957) was an Italian racing driver. He was born in Genoa and later passed away in Saint-Étienne, France.

Piero Carini's Racing Journey

Piero Carini was a talented driver who loved speed. He started his racing career in the early 1950s.

Early Races and Success

In 1950, Piero raced in the Modena Grand Prix. He drove a car made by OSCA. He finished in an impressive third place. This race followed Formula Two rules, which is a type of open-wheel racing.

The next year, his car was not as reliable. But Piero still showed great skill. Because of his talent, he was invited to join a team called Scuderia Marzotto in 1952. He got to drive their Ferrari cars. These included both sports cars and Grand Prix cars.

Driving for Ferrari

Piero competed in two Grand Prix races in 1952. Even though he had to stop early in both, his driving impressed the main Ferrari team. In 1953, he joined the official Ferrari team. He was a "junior" driver, racing alongside Umberto Maglioli.

That year, he raced in the Italian Grand Prix. After the season, he moved to Alfa Romeo.

Touring Car Wins

In 1954, Piero started driving touring cars for Alfa Romeo. These are cars that look more like regular road cars. He achieved several "class wins." This means he won against other cars in his specific category.

He won in famous races like the Mille Miglia. He also won the Tour of Sicily and the Dolomite Cup.

More Victories

Piero continued to win in 1955. He drove a Ferrari to class wins in races held in Dakar and Caracas, Venezuela. He also drove an OSCA car to a class win in the Targa Florio race.

His Final Race

In 1957, Piero was racing a sports car. It was a Ferrari Testa Rossa. The race was near Saint-Étienne, France. During the race, his car was involved in a serious accident. Piero Carini passed away instantly.
