Pierre Louis-Dreyfus (born May 17, 1908 – died January 15, 2011) was a brave French fighter during World War II. He was part of the French Resistance, a secret group that fought against the occupation of France. Later, he became the head of a big company called the Louis Dreyfus Group.

Early Life and Education
Pierre Louis-Dreyfus was born in Paris, France, on May 17, 1908. He was one of four children. His family was Jewish. His grandfather, Léopold Louis-Dreyfus, started the Louis Dreyfus Group company in 1851. Pierre's granddaughter is the famous actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
He finished school in 1928. He earned degrees in both arts and law.
Military Service and the Resistance
Pierre joined the military in 1928. He trained to be a cavalry officer. After his training, he worked in his family's business. In 1939, he was called back to serve in the army. He was discharged after France surrendered.
In 1941, Pierre joined the French Resistance. This was a secret movement that fought against the German occupation of France during World War II. Because of his military training, Pierre helped organize Resistance groups in southern France.
He had to leave France in December 1942 for his safety. He arrived in England in January 1943. In April 1943, he joined the 1st Free French Division in Africa. He worked as a special officer with the Scottish 51st Highland Division.
In December 1943, Pierre asked to join the Bomber Group "Lorraine". He became a gunner on bombing missions. From July 1944 to May 1945, he flew 81 bombing missions. These missions were over places like Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. He was praised many times for his hard work and excellent skills as a soldier.
After the War: Business Leader
After World War II ended, Pierre went back to work for his family's company, Louis Dreyfus and Co. He became the vice-president. Then, he was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from 1967 to 1975.
Under his leadership, the company grew a lot, especially its shipping business. The company is now known as the Louis Dreyfus Group. When Pierre retired, his son, Gérard Louis-Dreyfus, took over the company.
Pierre also held important positions in other organizations. He was a vice-president for a group that supported members of the French Resistance. He was also a member of councils that advised on shipping and trade.
Family Life
Pierre Louis-Dreyfus was married two times. In 1929, he married Dolores Neubauer. They had two children: a daughter named Dominique and a son named Gerard. They later separated.
In 1939, Pierre married Claude Singer. They had two children: Philippe and Danièle. Philippe now leads the Louis Dreyfus Shipping company. Danièle passed away in 2006.
Pierre was also a race car driver! He raced in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race eleven times between 1931 and 1955. He used the racing name 'Heldé', which came from his last name, L-D.
Pierre Louis-Dreyfus passed away on January 15, 2011, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. He was buried in Ville d'Avray.
