Pierson Olin Prioleau, whose name is pronounced PEER-sun PRAY-low, was born on August 6, 1977. He is a former professional American football player who played as a safety. The San Francisco 49ers picked him in the fourth round of the 1999 NFL draft.
He played college football at Virginia Tech. He earned a degree from Virginia Tech in interdisciplinary studies in 2011. Pierson later joined the coaching staff at Virginia Tech. From 2019 to 2021, he was the director of player development for defense. In 2022, he became the safeties coach for the Hokies.
Prioleau also played for several other NFL teams. These teams included the Buffalo Bills, Washington Redskins, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New Orleans Saints.

College Football Career
Pierson Prioleau played college football for the Virginia Tech Hokies. As a freshman, he played in 11 games. He was part of the special teams and also played as a backup cornerback. He finished that season with 24 tackles.
During his sophomore year, he started every game as a rover. He made 71 tackles that season. As a junior, he was named first-team All-Big East. He also earned third-team All-America honors from Sporting News. He recorded 81 tackles and two sacks that year.
In his senior season, Prioleau started every game. He was a key part of a defense that allowed only 12.9 points per game. This was the best in the Big East conference. He finished his final college season with 61 tackles and two interceptions.
Professional Football Career
San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers drafted Pierson Prioleau in the 1999 NFL draft. He played for the 49ers during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. During this time, he started 11 of the 28 games he played. He played as both a safety and a corner. He made 81 tackles and had one interception with the 49ers.
Buffalo Bills
Pierson Prioleau joined the Buffalo Bills in November 2001. He did not play in his first three games with the team. However, he played well in the final six games of that season.

Personal Life
Pierson Prioleau is married to Alicia. They have three sons: Pierson Jalen (P.J.), Parker Jayden, and Pace Jordan. Pierson is currently an assistant coach for the Virginia Tech football team. He coaches the safeties unit.
