Piikani 147, once called Peigan 147, is a special area of land in Alberta, Canada. It is known as an Indian reserve. This land is the home of the Piikani Nation, an important First Nation group.
This reserve is located about 61 kilometers (38 miles) west of the city of Lethbridge. It is quite large, covering an area of 426.992 square kilometers (164.862 square miles). This makes it the fourth-largest Indian reserve in all of Canada. The land sits at an elevation of 1,046 meters (3,432 feet) above sea level. In 2016, about 1,544 people lived here.

The Piikani Nation
The Piikani Nation is one of the three tribes of the Blackfoot Confederacy. They have lived in this region for thousands of years. Their traditional territory covers parts of what is now Alberta and Montana.
The Piikani Nation signed Treaty 7 with the Canadian Crown in 1877. This treaty set aside the land that became Piikani 147. Treaties are important agreements between First Nations and the government.

Piikani 147 is surrounded by other areas in Alberta. To its north and east, it borders the Municipal District of Willow Creek No. 26. To its west and south, it borders the Municipal District of Pincher Creek No. 9.
The closest towns to Piikani 147 are Fort Macleod and Pincher Creek. The main community within the reserve is Brocket.
