Pisgah View State Park is a new state park in North Carolina, located in Buncombe and Haywood Counties. It covers about 205-acre (0.83 km2) of land. This park is still being developed, which means it's growing and getting ready for visitors.
A big part of the park is the Pisgah View Ranch. This ranch is about 1,600-acre (6.5 km2) and has been owned by the Cogburn Family for a very long time, since the late 1700s! The ranch offers fun things like rental cabins, trails for horseback riding, a swimming pool, and tennis courts.
The state of North Carolina is working to buy this land over five years. A group called the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy has helped by raising $1 million. The Cogburn family is also donating some of the land's value to the state.
Park History: How It Started
The idea for Pisgah View State Park began in 2019. On July 19, 2019, the North Carolina General Assembly officially approved the creation of the park. The first piece of land, about 205-acre (0.83 km2), was bought in 2020. This was an exciting step towards making the park a reality for everyone to enjoy.
