A Look at Playa Barrio's History
Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States after the Spanish–American War. This happened because of the Treaty of Paris of 1898. In 1899, the United States government counted all the people in Puerto Rico. They found that the combined population of Playa and a nearby barrio called Magas was 962 people.
