Playa Barrio is a small community, or barrio, located in the town of Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico. A barrio is like a neighborhood or a district within a larger municipality. In 2010, about 807 people lived in Playa Barrio. It's a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.

History of Playa Barrio

Early Days and Changes

The history of Playa Barrio is connected to the history of Puerto Rico itself. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This was part of a deal called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.

Because of this treaty, Puerto Rico became an unincorporated territory of the United States. This means it is a part of the U.S. but does not have all the same rights as a state.
