Pleasanton is a small community in Catron County, New Mexico. It is located in the Williams Valley, between the towns of Glenwood and Cliff. In 2010, about 106 people lived there. By 2020, the population was 97.

History of Pleasanton

Pleasanton was started by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1882. One famous person who lived there was Jacob Hamblin. He was an important leader in the Mormon community. His 24th child was born in Pleasanton in 1884. Sadly, Hamblin died in 1886 from a sickness called malaria.

Other people also moved to Pleasanton. They were looking for a place where they could practice their beliefs freely.

In 1885, a group of Chiricahua Apache people had a conflict near Pleasanton. They fought with U.S. Army soldiers. This event was a part of the history of the American West.
