This unique community is home to people who live on boats and in special floating homes. It's a peaceful spot where the land meets the water.

History of the Harbor

Point San Pablo Harbor was first imagined by a person named Captain Clark. He was also the person who thought up the idea for the Richmond San Rafael Ferry. His vision helped create this harbor.

What You Can Find Here

The area around the harbor has a few interesting places. You'll find the Point San Pablo Marina, which is where boats are kept. There's also the Sailing Goat Restaurant, a place to eat, and The San Pablo Bay Sportsmen's Club.

The harbor village is tucked away in a natural dip in the land, called a ravine. It's at the northern tip of the Potrero Hills. It sits next to a small, curved bay, called a cove, that opens up to San Pablo Bay. A special wall, called a breakwater, helps protect the marina from big waves.

This harbor is also the starting point if you want to visit East Brother Light Station, which is a historic lighthouse.

Nearby Areas

The harbor is close to the Chevron Richmond Refinery and the Richmond Landfill. You can also find Point San Pablo Beach here, which is a nice place to visit.

Nature and Wildlife

Point San Pablo Harbor offers amazing views of the natural coastlines of nearby counties like Napa, Sonoma, Solano, and Marin County. The hills around the village are covered with Eucalyptus trees and other native plants.

Because the area is quiet and undeveloped, it's common to see deer. Other animals that live here include the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse and the California clapper rail, which is a type of bird. Around the marina and breakwaters, you'll often see many egrets, herons, and other birds enjoying the small wetland areas.

Who Owns the Harbor?

Point San Pablo Harbor is privately owned. However, there's a group called the Point San Pablo Preservation Society. This non-profit organization works to protect the harbor and the surrounding land and water. Their goal is to make sure these areas can be used and enjoyed by everyone.
