What Happens in the Movie
The Reverse World and Giratina
Five years before the main story, a smart researcher named Newton Graceland studied the Reverse World. This world is like a mirror image of our own. Newton built a machine to use the powers of Giratina. Giratina is the ruler of the Reverse World. Newton wanted to travel easily between the two worlds. However, he stopped his project when he learned it would hurt Giratina. Newton deleted his plans, but his assistant, Zero, remembered them.
Later, something strange happened. Time and space, which should never mix, crashed into each other. This caused Dialga, who controls time, and Palkia, who controls space, to fight. They both thought the other had invaded their territory. Their big battle messed up the Reverse World with pollution. This made Giratina very angry.
Giratina grabbed Dialga and pulled it into the Reverse World. A small, hedgehog-like Pokémon called Shaymin, which carries flowers, got caught on Dialga's back. Shaymin was scared and used its powers to escape back to the real world. Dialga followed Shaymin. Before leaving, Dialga trapped Giratina in a time loop. This stopped Giratina from coming into the real world for a while.
Ash, Shaymin, and the Adventure
Shaymin soon met Ash Ketchum, Dawn, and Brock. They agreed to help Shaymin. Shaymin needed to go to the Flower Garden in the mountains. There, it and other Shaymin could perform a special process called flower bearing. This would help them grow a new garden.
Suddenly, a portal to the Reverse World opened. It pulled Shaymin, Ash, and Dawn inside. In the Reverse World, Ash and Dawn saw Giratina. Luckily, Newton rescued them. Giratina wanted to use Shaymin's power to return to the real world. Newton quickly sent Shaymin, Ash, and Dawn back to their world.
Zero also wanted Shaymin's power. He attacked the kids with his Pokémon: Magnemite, Magneton, and Magnezone. Ash and his friends escaped onto a train. On the train, Shaymin touched a Gracidea flower. It changed into its Sky Forme, looking like a deer and able to fly! Ash, Dawn, and Brock then got on a ferry to the Flower Garden. But they were pulled into the Reverse World again, with Zero and his Pokémon right behind them.
Giratina attacked the group after Shaymin teased it. When night came, Shaymin changed back to its normal form. Zero captured Shaymin. He forced it to open a portal for Giratina to return to the real world, freeing it from the time loop. Shaymin panicked, opening another portal. This portal sent Ash and his friends to the Flower Garden in the real world.
Saving the Worlds
Giratina returned to the real world, but Zero captured it. Zero used Newton's machine to steal Giratina's powers. He planned to become the ruler of the Reverse World. Newton managed to shut down the machine, releasing Giratina. However, Zero had already taken all of Giratina's powers. Giratina collapsed from being so tired. Shaymin used its healing powers to help Giratina recover.
Zero escaped back to the Reverse World. He started causing damage that affected the real world. A huge glacier on the mountain began to move towards the Flower Garden. The powerful Pokémon Regigigas woke up. Along with a group of Mamoswine, Regigigas helped slow down the moving glacier.
In the Reverse World, Shaymin opened a portal. It pulled Zero back to the real world. Zero's ship crashed into the glacier. Dawn's Buneary and Swinub used their ice moves to freeze the ship. This made Zero lose all the data he had stolen about Giratina's abilities. Giratina then fixed the damage Zero had caused. It gave Ash a ride back to the real world. After that, Giratina left to find Dialga. Shaymin and the other Shaymin performed their flower bearing ritual. Then, they migrated to a new place.
During the end credits, Newton rescued Zero. They made up, and Zero was arrested. Ash, Dawn, and Brock sent bouquets of flowers to their families to show their thanks.
