Polly Scattergood (born 18 October 1986) is an English singer and songwriter. She creates music that is often described as unique and dreamy. Her songs are a mix of electronic and pop sounds.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Polly Scattergood was born in Wivenhoe, Essex, England. She grew up near Colchester with her two younger brothers. Her mother was an artist, and her father was an actor.
Polly started making music very early. She remembers playing a toy piano when she was just four years old! When she was 16, she moved to London. There, she attended the BRIT School, which is a special school for performing arts.
Polly's Music Career
After finishing school, Polly met Neil Ferris, a music manager. He helped her connect with Daniel Miller, who runs Mute Records. Daniel Miller then introduced Polly to Simon Fisher Turner, who helped produce her first album.
First Songs and Album
Polly's first song, "Glory Hallelujah," came out in 2005. In 2007, she released "Nitrogen Pink" with Mute Records. Another song, "I Hate the Way," was released in 2008. She even wrote this song using a toy keyboard!
Her first full album, called Polly Scattergood, was released in March 2009.
One song from the album, "Other Too Endless," became very popular. It was named "record of the week" on a radio show. Another song, "Please Don't Touch," was her fourth single.
Polly also performed live on BBC Radio 2 and opened for singer Amanda Palmer in 2009.
Later Music and Collaborations
In 2011, Polly recorded a cover of "New York New York." This song was used for a video game trailer by EA Games. The trailer won awards for its sound and game footage.
In 2012, she remixed a song called "Reunion" by the band M83.
Her second album, Arrows, was released in 2013. Ken Thomas, who worked with bands like Sigur Rós, produced this album. Songs from Arrows were featured in Billboard magazine. The album also received great reviews from music magazines. Polly even supported her labelmates Goldfrapp at a concert in London.
After Arrows, Polly worked with James Chapman, also known as Maps. They formed a project called "onDeadWaves" and released an album together in 2016.
In 2017, Polly recorded a new version of the famous song "Video Killed the Radio Star" by Buggles. Her version was called "Dark Star."
Her third album, In This Moment, was released in 2020.
In 2021, Polly started a podcast with her friend, singer Katie Melua. The podcast, called "The Detail," talks about how songs are written and records are made.
