Polo is a small city in southwest Caldwell County, Missouri. It is part of the larger Kansas City metropolitan area in the United States. In 2020, the city had a population of 509 people.

History of Polo

Polo was first planned and settled in 1867. The city got its name from another town called Polo, Illinois. A post office for Polo, Missouri, started operating in 1868.

Geography of Polo

Polo is located where two main roads meet: Missouri Route 13 and Missouri Route 116. Other nearby towns include Kingston, which is about six miles north. Cowgill is about six miles to the east. Knoxville, in a nearby county, is seven miles south.

The United States Census Bureau says that Polo covers a total area of 0.63 square miles (1.63 km2). Most of this area, 0.62 square miles (1.61 km2), is land. A very small part, 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2), is water.
