How Did Ponca Grow?
The town grew bigger when a railroad, the Covington, Columbus and Black Hills Railroad, reached it in 1876. This made it easier for people and goods to travel to and from Ponca.

Ponca is home to one of Nebraska's oldest rodeos. It's called the "Days of '56" rodeo. This name honors the year the community was founded. The rodeo happens every year during the last full weekend in June. In 2018, the rodeo celebrated its 50th anniversary!
