Gurdeep Singh Chadha (born October 22, 1960 – died November 17, 2012), also known as Ponty Chadha, was an Indian businessman. He was also known for his charitable work. He owned a large company called the Wave Group.

Early Life and Beginnings
Gurdeep "Ponty" Singh Chadha was born on October 22, 1960. His hometown was Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, India. His father, Kulwant Singh Chadha, moved to India in 1947. This was during the time of the Partition of India.
Ponty had two younger brothers, Rajinder and Hardeep. When he was a child, he helped his father sell snacks. Later, in 1968, his father started a small jaggery (a type of unrefined sugar) mill. Ponty and his brothers also worked there.
Building a Business Empire
Ponty Chadha became a very successful and powerful businessman. His company, the Wave Group, had many different businesses. These included real estate, movie theaters, shopping malls, and film production.
He started his career by growing his family's beverage business. He later expanded into other areas. This helped him build a more diverse company. He wanted to improve the reputation of his business. Ponty ran the family businesses with his brothers, Raju and Hardeep. He was seen as the main leader of the family's companies.
Beverage Business Growth
Chadha's beverage business grew very strong in Uttar Pradesh by 2007. He started by expanding his father's wholesale business. By 2009, his beverage company became the main distributor in Uttar Pradesh. This included both wholesale and retail sales.
He also gained a strong presence in Punjab. His company's distribution network reached beyond India. It covered countries like Nepal, Bhutan, the United States, and the UK.
Real Estate Ventures
Wave Infratech is the real estate part of the Chadha Group. They started with building offices and homes in Noida. Then they expanded to Punjab, Gurgaon, and other parts of North India.
The group worked with IBM to build India's first smart city. This city is called Wave City and is in Ghaziabad. Other projects include Wave One, Wave Cinemas, and Wave Malls. They also developed Wave City Center and Wave Estate.
Other Business Interests
The Wave Group also helped finance and distribute Bollywood movies. They even owned two teams in an Indian hockey league. This showed how diverse their business interests were.
Helping Others (Philanthropy)
Ponty Chadha was also a kind person who helped his community. In July 1999, he started a special school. It is called Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan. This school is in Noida.
It is a non-profit organization. Its goal is to educate children with special needs. The school helps them become independent. They learn skills to achieve physical, social, and financial independence. The school's lessons are designed to help children become self-reliant. They learn academic subjects and also art and handicrafts. The children's creations are even sold at special shops in Wave Malls.

Ponty Chadha was married to Jatinder Kaur Chadha. They had two children together. Their names are Manpreet "Monty" Singh Chadha and Harsheen Chadha.
Passing Away
Ponty Chadha passed away on November 17, 2012. After his death, his business interests were divided. His son, Monty, received about 64% of the businesses. This included real estate and sugar mills. His brother, Raju, received about 36% of the businesses. This part included the beverage and film distribution companies.
