About the British Pop Channel

There is also a TV channel called Pop in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It is also a free channel for kids. This channel is owned by a company called Narrative Entertainment UK Limited. It is mostly for children aged 8 to 12 years old.

The British Pop channel first started on October 1, 2002. It was first called "Toons and Tunes." In its early days, the channel had a friendly lime green dragon named Rorry. He had a Scottish accent and talked to viewers live! He was joined by Purrdy, a fun dragon-cat character.

When it first started, the channel showed a mix of music videos and cartoons. But there were many other channels showing music videos at the time. So, in 2004, Pop decided to focus much more on cartoons. They stopped showing music videos completely by 2007.
