Pope's Flat facts for kids
Pope's Flat (sometimes called Pope's Island) is one of four islands owned by the town of Stratford, Connecticut. It is the second largest of these islands. You can find it in the Housatonic River, located between two major roads, I-95 and the Merritt Parkway.
The island is north of the Moses Wheeler Bridge and south of the Igor I. Sikorsky Memorial Bridge. It's also near other islands like Carting Island and Peacock Island (Connecticut). Pope's Flat is not a place where people live. Only visitors like people who like to fish (anglers), those who watch birds, and duck hunters come to the island sometimes.
