The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) is a political group from Palestine. It was started in 1967 by George Habash. The PFLP is known for its strong beliefs about how society should be organized. It is also a secular group, meaning it is not based on religion.

George Habash
George Habash helped start the PFLP. He was the group's first leader.

The PFLP has always been the second-largest group within the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PLO is an important group that represents the Palestinian people. The biggest group in the PLO is called Fatah.

The current leader of the PFLP is Ahmad Sa'adat. He became the General Secretary in 2001. The PFLP believes that the current governments in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip are not proper governments. This is because new elections have not been held since 2006. Because of this, the PFLP chooses not to be part of some important groups within the PLO.

The PFLP has very firm ideas about what Palestine should be like. They have different views from Fatah, which has more moderate ideas. The PFLP does not recognize Israel as a country. Instead, they support a "one-state solution." This means they believe there should be one country for both Palestinians and Israelis.

The PFLP also has a military part called the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades.

What the PFLP Believes

The PFLP has strong political ideas. They believe in socialism, which is a way of organizing society where everyone shares resources. They also believe in Palestinian nationalism. This means they want a free and independent Palestine.

Goals of the PFLP

The main goal of the PFLP is to create an independent Palestinian state. They want this state to cover all of historic Palestine. They also believe in anti-imperialism. This means they are against powerful countries controlling weaker ones. They also support Pan-Arabism, which is the idea of all Arab nations working together.

History of the PFLP

The PFLP was founded in 1967. This was a very important time for Palestinians. The group was started by George Habash, who was a doctor. He wanted to create a strong group to fight for Palestinian rights.
