Portland is a small city located in Ashley County, Arkansas, in the United States. In 2020, about 325 people lived there.
Portland was first settled in the 1830s. It got its name because it was an early steamboat port. This means boats used to stop there to load and unload goods. The city officially became a town in 1893.

Geography and Location
Portland covers a total area of about 2.8 square kilometers (1.07 square miles). All of this area is land.
The city is located along a main road called U.S. Route 165. It's also where this road meets State Highway 160.

Historic Places to See
Portland is home to two historic buildings that are quite special:
- The Dean House
- The Pugh House
Both of these houses were designed by an architect named Charles L. Thompson. They are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. This means they are important historical sites that are protected.
