Pratt is a small, quiet place in Steele County, Minnesota, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county or township.

Where is Pratt Located?

Pratt is found in the southeastern part of Minnesota. It's not far from a bigger town called Owatonna. You can find Pratt if you travel along U.S. Highway 218. This highway is a main road that connects different areas.

The community is spread across two different areas called Aurora Township and Havana Township. A township is like a smaller division of a county. A small stream called Turtle Creek also flows nearby.

A Glimpse into Pratt's Past

Pratt has a bit of history, even though it's a small community. A long time ago, in 1879, a post office was opened in Pratt. This was a very important place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The post office stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1955.

The community was named after an important person in its early days: William A. Pratt. He was one of the first people to settle in the area. Naming a place after an early settler was a common way to honor them back then.
