The Prayagraj division, which used to be called the Allahabad division, is an important administrative area in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Think of it like a big region made up of several smaller districts, all working together under one main administration.
In the year 2000, some big changes happened in Uttar Pradesh. A new state called Uttaranchal (now Uttarakhand) was formed from its northern parts. At the same time, the Allahabad division also got a makeover! Some districts like Etawah, Farrukhabad, and Kanpur were moved to create a new area called the Kanpur division. Also, a new district called Kaushambi was created from parts of the old Allahabad district. To balance things out, the Pratapgarh district was added to the Allahabad division.
