President of the National Assembly of Laos facts for kids

The President of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic is like the main leader or "speaker" of the National Assembly of Laos. The National Assembly is the country's main law-making group. The President's job is to lead meetings and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Before 1991, this role was a bit different. It was called the President of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly. This person was also the country's head of state, which is a very important leader. Later, these jobs were separated. The "head of state" became the President of Laos, and the "speaker" role became the President of the National Assembly.
