The Prime Minister of Bulgaria (Bulgarian: Министър-председател на България) is the most important leader of the government in Bulgaria. Think of them as the captain of the country's team! Their main job is to lead the cabinet, which is a group of top officials who help run the country.
Often, the Prime Minister is the leader of a political coalition. This is when different political groups in the National Assembly (Bulgaria's parliament) agree to work together. The National Assembly is where laws are made.
Sometimes, the President of Bulgaria might choose a Prime Minister to lead a temporary government. This is called a caretaker government. It helps keep things running smoothly until a new, permanent government can be formed.
Currently, Rumen Radev is the Prime Minister of Bulgaria. He took on this role after his party, Progressive Bulgaria, won the election in 2026.

The Prime Minister serves for a term of four years, and they can be chosen again if their party wins another election.

For example, Todor Burmov was the very first Prime Minister of Bulgaria. Over the years, many leaders have taken on this important role, helping to shape Bulgaria's history. The most recent former Prime Minister to pass away was Georgi Atanasov, who served from 1986 to 1990.
