Even though he was not given the special title of Infante like his oldest brother, King Alfonso XIII of Spain made sure Prince Ataúlfo and his other brother, Alonso, had the same special rights and honors. His godparents were important royal figures: Infante Carlos of the Two-Sicilies and Isabella de Borbón. As a young boy, Prince Ataúlfo studied at Sandroyd School in England.
