Princess Rajwa Al Hussein (Arabic: رجوة الحسين; born Rajwa Al Saif; 28 April 1994) is a member of the Jordanian royal family. She was born in Saudi Arabia. Princess Rajwa is married to Hussein, Crown Prince of Jordan. He is the person who will become King of Jordan after his father.
Princess Rajwa was trained as an architect before her marriage. Her engagement to Crown Prince Hussein was announced in August 2022. They got married in a special ceremony in Amman on June 1, 2023. Since her marriage, she has joined the Crown Prince in his official duties. These duties happen both in Jordan and in other countries. On August 3, 2024, Princess Rajwa and Prince Hussein had their first child, a daughter named Princess Iman.
Early Life and Education
Rajwa bint Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif was born on April 28, 1994. Her birthplace was Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia. She is the youngest of four children. Her father was Khaled Al Saif, a Saudi businessman. Her mother is Azza Al Sudairi. Rajwa has three older brothers and sisters: Faisal, Nayef, and Dana.
The Al Saif family comes from a town called Al-Attar. This town is in a region known as Sudair. Her mother's family, the Al Sudairi family, is also very important. They are related to the current King of Saudi Arabia, King Salman.
Rajwa finished her high school education in Riyadh. She then went to Syracuse University in the United States. In 2017, she earned a degree in architecture. While at university, she was known as Rajwa Alseif. She also earned another degree in visual communications in 2019. This degree was from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
After her studies, Rajwa worked at an architecture company in Los Angeles. Later, she moved back to Riyadh. There, she worked at a design studio. Besides her first language, Arabic, Princess Rajwa also speaks English and French very well.
Marriage and Family Life
The Royal Hashemite Court announced Rajwa's engagement to Hussein, Crown Prince of Jordan. This happened on August 17, 2022. Prince Hussein is the oldest son of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan. The engagement ceremony took place at Rajwa's father's home in Riyadh. The King and Queen of Jordan were there. Members of both the Jordanian royal family and the Al Saif family also attended.
On May 22, 2023, a special party was held for Rajwa. It was a pre-royal wedding henna party. She wore a beautiful dress from a Saudi fashion brand. The wedding happened on June 1, 2023, at Zahran Palace. Rajwa wore a custom-made dress for the ceremony. She wore another dress for the evening party. After her marriage, a royal order was made. Rajwa became known as Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al Hussein.
On August 3, 2024, Princess Rajwa gave birth to a daughter. Her name is Princess Iman bint Hussein. She was born at King Hussein Medical Center in Amman. In Jordan, the throne usually passes to the oldest son. Because of this rule, Princess Iman is not in line to become queen.
Public Duties and Appearances
Princess Rajwa made her first official public appearance in October 2022. This was after her engagement to Crown Prince Hussein. She visited the Royal Covenant with Hussein and his great-uncle. In January 2023, she joined Hussein for another event. They visited an initiative for people who are blind or have low vision. This was their first official public event as a couple.
In September of the same year, the couple met with members of the US Congress. This meeting took place in Washington D.C. It was their first public event since their wedding. In January 2024, Princess Rajwa went with Crown Prince Hussein on an official visit to Singapore. In June, she attended a big national celebration in Amman. This event celebrated King Abdullah II's 25 years as King.
