Iftar facts for kids
Iftar is a very important meal for Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan. It's the evening meal where they break their daily fast.
During Ramadan, Muslims do not eat or drink from sunrise to sunset. Iftar is the first meal they have after the sun goes down, at a time called Maghrib.
A Special Prayer for Iftar
Before eating Iftar, many Muslims say a special prayer called a dua. This prayer thanks God for the day's blessings.
One common prayer said before Iftar means: "Thirst has gone, the arteries are moist, and the reward is sure, if Allah wills."
