Puerto Aysén is a city in Chile. It is located in the Aysén del General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Region. The city is about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the start of the Aisén Fjord. It is in the far south of the country.
Puerto Aysén is an important city. It is the capital of both the Aysén Province and the local area called Aisén. The city is about 65 kilometers (40 miles) from Coyhaique, the main city of the region. It is also 15 kilometers (9 miles) from Puerto Chacabuco. This port is the main way to reach Puerto Aysén by sea.
People first settled here around 1914. Puerto Aysén officially became a city on January 28, 1928. About 27,644 people lived here in 2017. A popular place to visit nearby is Lagoon San Rafael.

Port of Chacabuco: A Busy Hub
The port of Chacabuco is a key part of the economy. It handles both passenger ferries and cargo ships. Ships bring in important goods like fuel and other supplies. They also take out products like live cattle and other farm goods.

The lowest temperature was -8.9 degrees Celsius (16 degrees Fahrenheit) in June 1965.
