Puertos Barrio is a neighborhood, also called a barrio, located in the town of Camuy, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 1,330 people lived in Puertos. It is a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.

A Look at Puertos' Past
How Puertos Became Part of the U.S.
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. From that moment, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States.

In 1899, the United States government did a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that 419 people lived in Puertos barrio at that time.
