Pulguillas is a small community, also known as a 'barrio', located in Coamo, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 1,205 people lived there. It is a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, which is a commonwealth of the United States.
A Look at Pulguillas History
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898 in 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the U.S.

In 1899, the United States government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, showed that 1,143 people lived in Pulguillas at that time. Over the years, the number of people living in Pulguillas has changed.
