Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Punkin Center is a small, quiet place in Gila County, Arizona, in the United States. It's not a big city with its own local government, but rather a community where people live.

What is Punkin Center?

Punkin Center is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own city government or mayor like a big town or city. Instead, it's part of the larger Gila County and gets its services from the county.

Where is Punkin Center Located?

This community is found in a beautiful area called the Tonto Basin. It's special because it's right where two creeks, Reno Creek and Tonto Creek, meet together. This meeting point is called a confluence.

If you were to travel from Punkin Center, you would find Payson about 29 miles (47 kilometers) to the north. You can get there by following Arizona Route 188 and Arizona Route 87. To the south, about eight miles (13 kilometers) away on Route 188, is the large and scenic Roosevelt Lake.
