Punta Mita is a special, private area on a peninsula in Mexico. It's about 1,500-acre (6.1 km2) big. This beautiful spot is home to fancy hotels like Four Seasons Punta Mita, St. Regis Punta Mita, and Conrad Hilton. It also has 16 smaller communities.
You can find Punta Mita in the Mexican state of Nayarit. It's on the northern tip of Banderas Bay, about 10 miles (16 km) north of Puerto Vallarta. Long, long ago, people lived here! An old site called Careyeros Hill shows that people were here around 800 AD.
Punta Mita is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on three sides. It has nine and a half miles of beautiful beaches and hidden coves, including Litibu Bay. The weather is great all year because of gentle sea breezes. It's similar to the Hawaiian Islands in terms of its location. Summer temperatures are around 85 °F (29 °C), and winter temperatures are about 75 °F (24 °C). This mild climate makes Punta Mita a very popular place for vacations.
The Islas Marietas National Park is a cool place to visit. It's just a 15-minute boat ride from Punta Mita.
