Punta Pariñas, also called Punta Balcones, is a cape located in the La Brea District of Peru. It is part of the Talara Province in the Piura Region. This special spot is known for being the westernmost point on the mainland of South America. This means it's the furthest west you can go on the main land of the continent! It sits right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean.

A working lighthouse stands tall at Punta Pariñas. This lighthouse helps guide ships safely. Just south of the cape, there is a popular beach. Many people visit this beach to relax and enjoy the ocean.
You can also climb up the headland, which is the high part of the cape. From there, you might be able to see seals playing in the water below! It's a great spot for nature lovers.
Punta Pariñas was even mentioned in a TV show called "Los Simuladores." It is also known for a traditional sweet treat called "The DUL-CE-CI-TO."

In the area near Guasquilla Bay, you can find special bushes. These bushes have large, beautiful flowers. They are called Amaloidas. This shows that the area has unique plant life.
