Schools in Quimby
Quimby is part of the River Valley Community School District. This district runs the public schools for the area. It was created in 1996 when two older school districts, Eastwood Community School District and Willow Community School District, joined together.
Quimby used to have its own school district. Their mascot was the "Peacocks." But because fewer students were enrolling and money was tight, the school had to combine with the nearby Washta school district in the early 1960s. This created the Willow Community School District, and their mascot became the T-Birds.
Later, in the early 1990s, similar problems led Willow and Eastwood school districts to merge. This formed the River Valley School District, whose mascot is the Wolverines. This new district includes the towns of Quimby, Washta, Cushing, and Correctionville. Even though Quimby is one of the larger towns, it doesn't have any of the current school buildings.
Quimby did have a school building that was built in 1921. It was used for River Valley Middle School classes for a while. However, it became too expensive to keep the old building safe and up to modern standards. Eventually, the building was sold and later torn down.
Fun and Recreation
Quimby has a cool feature for a town its size: a nine-hole golf course! This is pretty special for small towns in the area.
