Río is a special area called a barrio in the town of Naguabo, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 5,350 people lived there.

A Look at Río's History
After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became an unincorporated territory of the U.S. This means it's part of the U.S. but doesn't have all the same rights as a state.
In 1899, the U.S. government counted all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. They found that Río and a nearby area called Santiago y Lima had a total of 902 people.
