The Story of RCR Arquitectes
The three founders started their company in 1988 in their hometown of Olot, a city in the Catalonia region of Spain. Working together, they created a unique style that connects their buildings with nature.
What Makes Their Buildings Special?
RCR Arquitectes is known for creating buildings that feel like a part of the landscape. They often use simple, strong materials to make their designs stand out.
A Unique Building Material
One of their favorite materials is weathering steel, also known as Corten steel. This is a special type of steel that is designed to look rusty. The rust actually forms a protective layer that stops the steel from rusting any further. This gives their buildings a unique reddish-brown color that changes over time and blends in with natural surroundings like trees and soil.
