Frampton Marsh is a wonderful nature reserve located in Lincolnshire, England. It's a very important place for birds, especially those that migrate. The reserve is right on the coast of The Wash, which is a large bay. It's about 4 miles from the town of Boston.

Most of Frampton Marsh is looked after by the RSPB. A smaller part of the saltmarsh is managed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust. There is also a small visitor centre where people can learn more about the reserve.

History of Frampton Marsh

The RSPB bought most of the land for Frampton Marsh in 1984. However, the big project to create the wetlands didn't start until 2007. This was when more farmland, located further inland from the sea, was bought. This allowed them to create the perfect home for many different types of birds.

Birds at Frampton Marsh

Frampton Marsh is a very popular spot for thousands of migrating birds. These birds stop here during their long journeys. You can often see many different species here.

Some of the birds you might regularly spot include:

The reserve is also famous for attracting rare birds that are not often seen in the UK. Many of these are rare wading birds. For example, in 2015, birds like a black-winged stilt, broad-billed sandpiper, and Wilson's phalarope visited. In 2014, a lesser yellowlegs was seen.

Frampton Marsh was also the first place in the UK where a glossy ibis tried to build a nest and raise its young. This shows how special and important the reserve is for bird conservation.
