A Look Back at Radec
Early Days and Settlement
Radec was first settled a long time ago, in 1883. A man named Samuel V. Tripp bought land in the area. He was one of the first people to set up a post office there. This helped the small community grow.
Life in the Late 1800s
Around 1893 to 1894, a local book listed what Radec was like. People there mainly grew honey, hay, and raised animals like cattle. Even though it was a farming area, the book said it had "no commercial interest of any kind." This means there were not many businesses or shops.
Only about 14 people lived in Radec at that time. Most of them were farmers and beekeepers. Samuel Tripp, the early settler, was also listed.
Radec Today
Today, Radec is still a small community. The County of Riverside owns a small cemetery there. This cemetery is not used anymore. Radec is located along Highway 79.
