Roads and Nearby Places

A small, unofficial place called Nineteen Mile is located along Montana Highway 2 in the western part of Rader Creek. Another spot, Cactus Junction, is at the eastern edge. It is where Montana Highway 2 meets Montana Highway 41.

Montana Highway 2 can take you about 11 miles (18 km) east to Whitehall. If you go about 20 miles (32 km) northwest, you will reach Butte. Montana Highway 41 goes south for about 23 miles (37 km) to Twin Bridges.

The community gets its name from Rader Creek, a stream that flows from the mountains to the northwest. These mountains are near the Continental Divide, which separates rivers that flow to the Pacific Ocean from those that flow to the Atlantic. Rader Creek joins Little Pipestone Creek in the eastern part of the area. Both creeks are part of the Jefferson River system, which eventually flows into the mighty Missouri River.
