Raeren is a town located in Belgium, in a part of the country called the province of Liège. It's a special place because it was part of Germany until after the First World War. After the war, it became part of Belgium. Because of its history, Raeren is one of the towns in Eastern Belgium where many people still speak German.
As of January 1, 2006, about 10,091 people lived in Raeren. The town covers an area of about 74.21 square kilometers. This means that for every square kilometer, there are about 136 people living there. The municipality of Raeren includes a few smaller areas. These are called sub-municipalities, and they are Eynatten, Hauset, and Raeren itself.
A well-known person named Mathias Cormann grew up in Raeren. He later became the Minister for Finance in Australia.
