The "La Quinta del Buitre" Era
Martín Vázquez became very famous as part of a special group of players called La Quinta del Buitre. This name means "The Vulture's Cohort" and referred to five talented young players from Real Madrid's youth academy. After a new player, Gheorghe Hagi, joined Real Madrid, Martín Vázquez decided to try playing in Italy. He joined Torino FC. He played there for two seasons. Even though he helped Torino reach the 1992 UEFA Cup Final, he didn't feel completely comfortable in Italy.
After Italy, he moved to Olympique de Marseille in France, but he only stayed there for two months. Then, he returned to his old club, Real Madrid. During his two times playing for Real Madrid, he won many important trophies. He won six league titles, two UEFA Cups, and two Copa del Rey cups.

He played for a few other teams, including Deportivo de La Coruña, Atlético Celaya in Mexico (where he played with his old teammate Butragueño), and Karlsruher SC in Germany.
