Rafael Martín Vázquez is a former Spanish football player. He was born on September 25, 1965. He mostly played as an attacking midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defend.
Martín Vázquez is best known for playing with Real Madrid. He played for them in two different periods. During his time there, he played 252 games in La Liga (Spain's top football league) and scored 42 goals. He also played football in other countries like Italy, France, Mexico, and Germany.

Club Career Highlights
Rafael Martín Vázquez was born in Madrid, Spain. He joined the youth team of Real Madrid when he was 15 years old in 1980. Just three years later, he started playing for the main team.
The "La Quinta del Buitre" Era
Martín Vázquez became famous as part of a special group of players at Real Madrid. This group was called La Quinta del Buitre, which means "The Vulture's Cohort." It included other famous players like Míchel, Emilio Butragueño, Miguel Pardeza, and Manolo Sanchís.
In the 1989–90 season, Real Madrid scored a record 107 goals in La Liga. Martín Vázquez scored 14 of those goals, which was his best scoring season. Only Hugo Sánchez scored more goals for the team that year.
Playing Abroad and Return to Real Madrid
After a new player, Gheorghe Hagi, joined Real Madrid, Martín Vázquez decided to move to Italy. He joined Torino FC. He played there for two seasons but found it hard to settle in. However, he did help Torino reach the final of the 1992 UEFA Cup.
After Italy, he moved to Olympique de Marseille in France, but he only stayed there for two months. Then, he returned to his old club, Real Madrid. Later Career and Retirement
Later in his career, Martín Vázquez started to get injured often. He retired from football at the end of 1998. Before retiring, he played for Deportivo de La Coruña, Atlético Celaya (where he played with his old teammate Butragueño), and Karlsruher SC in Germany. After he stopped playing, he worked as a youth coach for Real Madrid.
