Raheem Nathaniel Anfernee Edwards is a professional soccer player from Canada. He was born on July 17, 1995. He plays as a left winger or a wing-back. These are positions on the side of the field. Raheem currently plays for the New York Red Bulls team in Major League Soccer.

Raheem Edwards' Soccer Journey

Starting Out in Toronto

Raheem Edwards began his soccer journey in Toronto, Canada. He first played for a club called Erin Mills SC. Later, he joined the Toronto FC Academy, which is a special training program for young players.

In 2014, Raheem played in a new league called League1 Ontario. He first joined Internacional de Toronto. Then, he moved to ANB Futbol during the same season. This happened after his first team left the league.

Playing for Toronto FC II

In 2015, Raheem signed his first professional contract. He joined Toronto FC II, which is the reserve team for Toronto FC. He made his first game appearance on March 28 against FC Montreal.

Raheem played two full seasons with Toronto FC II. This team was part of the USL. During his time there, he scored eight goals and helped his teammates score five times.

Joining Toronto FC's Main Team

In June 2016, Raheem got a chance to play for the main Toronto FC team. He signed a short-term deal to play in cup games. On June 29, 2016, he played his first game for the main team. This was during the 2016 Canadian Championship final.

He made his Major League Soccer debut on July 2, 2016. He came into the game in the 88th minute. In March 2017, Raheem signed a full contract with Toronto FC. This was before the 2017 season began.

Moving to Montreal Impact

On December 12, 2017, Raheem Edwards was chosen by Los Angeles FC in the 2017 MLS Expansion Draft. This is a special draft where new teams pick players. Right after, he was traded to Montreal Impact. Another player, Jukka Raitala, was also traded with him.

Raheem played his first game for the Impact against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. This was at the start of the 2018 season. He scored his first goal for the Impact in the very next game.

Time with Chicago Fire

On July 17, 2018, Raheem was traded again. He moved to the Chicago Fire team. He made his debut for them just four days later, on July 21. In that game, he helped set up a goal for his teammate Nemanja Nikolić.

Playing for Minnesota United

On February 11, 2020, Raheem Edwards was traded within Major League Soccer once more. This time, he joined Minnesota United FC. He played his first game for them on March 7 against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Joining Los Angeles FC

On December 17, 2020, Raheem was picked by Los Angeles FC in the 2020 MLS Re-Entry Draft. After the 2021 season, Los Angeles FC decided not to keep him. This made him a free agent, meaning he could sign with any team.

Playing for LA Galaxy

On January 7, 2022, Raheem signed a three-year contract with LA Galaxy. This move was special because he was the first player to go directly from LAFC to their rivals, LA Galaxy. He played his first game for the Galaxy on February 27. In that game, he helped Chicharito score the winning goal.

Return to CF Montréal

In December 2023, Raheem Edwards was traded back to his old club, CF Montréal. He played in 25 league games for Montréal and helped his teammates score 5 goals. At the end of the season, his contract was not renewed, and he became a free agent again.

Joining New York Red Bulls

On January 30, 2025, Raheem Edwards signed a two-year contract with the New York Red Bulls. He is currently playing for this team.

Playing for Canada's Youth Teams

Raheem Edwards was born in Canada and has Jamaican family roots. He started playing for Canada's national teams with the Under-23 team. His first game was at the 2015 Pan American Games against Brazil's U23 team.

In May 2016, Raheem was called up again to Canada's U23 team. He played in two friendly games. He scored in both games and was named "Man of the Match" in one game. In that game, he scored a goal and helped with three others.

Playing for Canada's Senior Team

Raheem made his debut for the Canadian senior team on June 13, 2017. This game was against Curaçao. On June 27, he was chosen to be part of the team for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament.
