Railey Creek: A Missouri Stream

Railey Creek is an important part of the natural water system in the Ozarks region of Missouri. It helps carry water from the land into larger rivers.

Where is Railey Creek Located?

Railey Creek starts its journey northwest of a town called Reeds Spring. It then flows until it meets the James River. This meeting point, where two streams or rivers join, is called a "confluence." The confluence of Railey Creek and the James River is just south of Galena.

Another stream, named Wilson Run, flows in a similar direction. It enters the James River about one mile south of where Railey Creek joins. A Missouri Pacific Railroad line also follows the path of Railey Creek between Reeds Spring and Galena.

How Did Railey Creek Get its Name?

The name Railey Creek comes from an early settler in the area. The stream was named after Ben Railey, who was a pioneer citizen in the region.
